Case

Details: Kenneth Griffith, Earl Smock and Richard Mason were ATV riders in the trails around Signal Mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee when they vanished. When they failed to come home, relatives went searching for them, finding their trails and a drop of blood in the paths. It was suspected they had met with foul play. Their bodies and the vehicles they used were found dumped in two separate locations, their bullet-ridden bodies in one location and the blood-soaked ATVs dumped off Roberts Mill Road.

Extra Notes: This case first aired on the January 3, 1990 episode of Unsolved Mysteries. The case was also featured on City Confidential.

Results: Unresolved. A man named Frank Casteel has since been tied to and tried for the murders. He was subsequently convicted, but several supporters are not convinced he actually had a part in the murder. His innocence in the murders is still pending.
