Details: Robert Litchfield is wanted for escaping from a federal prison in Talladega, Alabama, in February 1986. Litchfield was serving sixty years in prison for several bank robberies that he committed between 1983 and 1985. Since his escape from prison, authorities have connected at least three more bank robberies to Litchfield. He is on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list.
Extra Notes: The case was featured as a part of Special #1 which aired on January 20, 1987; the case was featured in the FBI's Most Wanted Roll Call.
Results: Captured. In May 1987, Litchfield was arrested in Lake Tahoe. However, he once again escaped from prison in March 1989 by posing as a safety inspector. Litchfield was later arrested again by U.S. Marshals in Pensacola, Florida in April 1989. He died in federal prison on January 24, 2011.
