Real Name: Robert Davidson
Case: Medical Mystery
Location: Acton, Indiana
Date: June 1980

Case[]

Details: One day in June 1980, Robert Davidson was driving his motorcycle on I-74 near Acton, Indiana on his way to Indianapolis to visit his daughter, when all of a sudden, a thunderstorm came through the area. He pulled over to the side of the road to put his rain gear on when he got struck by lightning. It was so powerful that it blew both his boots off his feet. 200,000 volts went through his body, and it seemed certain that he was going to die.
Paramedics were on the scene within minutes and tried to revive Robert. However, based on the condition of his body and vital signs, they did not believe that they could save him. Then events at the scene seemed to take on a supernatural tone. First, every power circuit in the ambulance inexplicably failed. Firefighter Richard Neibert stated that they had backup batteries, so that should not have happened. Suddenly, a mysterious woman dressed in black and carrying a Bible arrived, stating that she had to touch Robert.
The first responders decided to let the woman touch Robert. She began praying and chanting for him. She also repeatedly struck her Bible against the ground. The paramedics noticed that she was wearing clothes that appeared to be from the 1800s. She soon began to speak in tongues. After a few minutes, she left and vanished. Within seconds, the power in the ambulance came back on. Almost immediately after that, Robert's vital signs came back, and he began to improve. He was rushed to the emergency room, but the doctors believed that he would die. Two months later, however, he emerged from his coma shortly before his first grandchild was born.
Interestingly, some of the eyewitnesses, including two of the paramedics, insisted that the woman was not there. However, the others were certain that she existed and was with them for several minutes. It is unknown what became of her. Known as the "Lady in Black", she is believed to be a ghost from the 1800s Acton Campground.
Extra Notes: This case first aired on the May 3, 1996 episode. It was also featured on Unexplained Mysteries. An alternate theory links the woman to the land where the road cuts through which was once known as the Fendler Estate. (See the Talk Page for more information)
