Wanted For: Murder
Missing Since: 1993
Details: Michael McGuffey is wanted for the 1993 murder of his ex-wife, Michelle "Shelly" McGuffey. They had been divorced for a month after five abusive and violent years of marriage and one child. She worked at a restaurant in Mount Vernon, Washington where she told Michael that she was as she planned to move out of town; she wanted to file their final tax return before she left on September 27, 1993. After she parked, she saw Michael approach her, so she locked her doors. She wanted to be in the restaurant with other people around because of his violent behavior. He convinced her to let him enter the car, and several witnesses watched them struggle and him shoot her at close range while she was seated in the car. He fled the scene on foot. He has not been seen since and a reward is being offered in the case.
Extra Notes: This case first aired on the March 8, 1996 episode. McGuffrey was profiled on America’s Most Wanted and the case was documented I (Almost) Got Away With It in 2010.
