Wanted For: Burglary, Escape
Missing Since: December 13, 1986
Details: Larry Dennis Miller was serving a 20-year to life sentence for burglary and assaulting a police officer when he escaped from a Missouri State Penitentiary on December 13, 1986. Over the course of approximately three weeks, Miller pieced together a complete guard's uniform from the prison's dry cleaning shop and then wore it to walk through three check points to exit the prison. He walked six blocks to the State Capital Building where he changed out of the uniform. He has not been seen since.
Extra Notes: This case aired as a part of the April 12, 1989 episode along with two other escapes, Curtis Watson and Joseph Hutchinson.
Results: Unresolved. Detectives later discovered that Miller's real name was Dennis Schley Lilly. In 2001, he was sighted in Mexico and identified, but he vanished before he could be arrested. In January 2014, his wife admitted that he had been living in Gold Bar, Washington under the alias Dave Murray and had died from pancreatic cancer in 2012. She claimed to have buried him in the back yard. Police searched her property and found skeletal remains, however, these have not yet been confirmed to be those of Lilly, and the tests will take time.
