Details: Joseph Lee Hutchinson was convicted of drug manufacturing and was sent to the Barren County Correctional Center in Glasgow, Kentucky. At 5:30AM on December 30, 1986, he and inmate Fred Rich overpowered a jailer and escaped. The two men then stole a truck and were chased through Kings City by deputies. They later abandoned the truck and escaped on foot down a country road. Rich was later discovered to have committed suicide; Hutchinson remains at large.
Extra Notes: This case first aired on the April 12, 1989 episode, along with two other escapees, Larry Dennis Miller and Curtis Watson.
Some sources spell his last name as "Hutchison".
Results: Captured. Viewers' tips led to Hutchinson's arrest in June of 1989 in Chico, California, where he was working as a mechanic under the name Paul Boyd.
