History[]
Background: In June 2000, Detective Roben Talton and her partner responded to a tip that a wanted fugitive was at a Texas machine shop. The manager took them to where the suspect was working. When Talton tried to arrest him, he struggled and fled. During the chase, she struck her leg against a metal railing. Her partner soon caught up with the man and she did not want him to know that she was injured and walked him down to where the unit was.
Talton had chipped her left kneecap and fractured her lower leg in two places. While she was recovering, she was placed in the newly formed "Cold Warrant Unit", which was set up to trace and apprehend the county's wanted felons. Many of them had been on the run for over a decade. Talton proved to have a talent for tracking down fugitives, by finding out information about the fugitive, their relatives, etc. and has been able to arrest over 400 fugitives. However, despite her success, Talton is still haunted by the fugitives that she has been unable to catch, including the killer of Opal Zacharias, a man named Lance Bedgood, who has been on the run for more than a decade.
