Details: "John Doe" was walking along Waterloo Road in East Stockton, California, on September 24, 1993, when he was hit by a motorcycle that was trying to get out of the way of an out-of-control car. He sustained serious head and leg injuries and went into a coma. He had no identification on him. His condition has only slightly improved since the accident and he can respond to his caretakers by fluttering his eyes and squeezing a hand. However, the doctors and nurses that are treating him know that he needs family members and friends with him in order to better his recovery.
Extra Notes: This case first aired on the May 4, 1994 episode.
Results: Solved. In mid-October 1996, "John Doe" passed away. Then, on October 31, 1996, he was identified as fifty-six-year-old drifter named David Allen Johnson by his relatives. Fingerprints confirmed the identification. Strangely, more than two years earlier, David's sisters had told the California Highway Patrol that they believed that he was their brother, after seeing his tattoos on Unsolved Mysteries. However, the information was not forwarded to the hospital officials until after his death.
