Case[]

Details: David O'Neil is wanted for the murder of Canadian Police Officer Scott Rossiter. The murder took place in Ingersoll, Ontario, which is 85 miles northeast of the U.S. border. The community was relatively quiet and crime-free; there were only fifteen police officers at the time, including Scott. He was a thirty-year-old father of two who joined the force in 1990. He was well-liked among his fellow officers and his community. Tragically, in 1984, his first son Benjamin passed away due to cancer.

On the night of September 19, 1991, Scott was patrolling an area in Ingersoll. At 11:05PM, he questioned a man riding a bicycle in a parking lot fifty yards from the police station. The two men got into a fight which ended in the assailant grabbing Scott's gun and shooting him in the back of the head. He was immediately rushed to the hospital; ninety minutes later, he was pronounced dead.
Police identified David O'Neil as the assailant. He is a thirty-three-year-old resident of Ingersoll and motorcycle repairman. Scott's gun was never recovered and it is believed that O'Neil still has it in his possession.
Extra Notes: The case was featured as a part of a special alert in the October 16, 1991 episode.
Results: Unresolved. An anonymous tip led police to the body of David O'Neil. On January 13, 1992, police were directed to a shallow grave in an unpopulated area about 50 miles from where Scott was killed. O'Neil had been shot several times in the head. Dental records confirmed his identity. Police suspect that bikers killed O'Neil so that police would not look into their criminal activities. However, no arrests have ever been made.
