Details: When Bonnie Haim disappeared from her Jacksonville, Florida home on January 6, 1993, oddly her father stated he believed she may have just disappeared voluntarily; he also believed that Bonnie's husband, Michael, was not involved. Michael Haim's aunt, Eveann Haim, believes he was involved in her disappearance.
Michael and Bonnie had both worked for Eveann and her husband around the time of Bonnie's disappearance. According to Eveann, Michael was verbally abusive towards Bonnie at work; on at least one occasion, the abuse turned physical when Michael slammed Bonnie's hand in a car door. Bonnie had been planning to leave Michael for several months prior to her disappearance. She even opened up a bank account under her own name. In order to hide it from Michael, she had the statements mailed to work. When Michael found out, he was furious; he ordered Bonnie to close the account. Although Bonnie did close the account, she still planned on leaving Michael. She began leaving money with friends; she also put a deposit out on an apartment and attempted to enroll her son Aaron in a new preschool.
On the night of January 6, 1993, Bonnie arrived home from work around 7:30 pm; she planned to go over to Eveann's home around 8 pm. However, at 8:30 pm, she called Eveann, telling her that she could not come over. Eveann noticed that Bonnie was crying and upset; Bonnie told her that she and Michael had gotten into an argument. The next morning, Michael called a co-worker and said that he and Bonnie would not be coming into work that day; he told the co-worker that Bonnie had left the previous night.
That same morning, Bonnie's purse was discovered in a trash bin behind the Red Roof Inn in Jacksonville with her money, credit cards, identification, and other belongings still inside it. When told of the discovery of Bonnie's purse, Michael reported Bonnie missing. Eveann noticed that Michael did not seem upset about Bonnie's disappearance, nor did he seem to care about her whereabouts. He seemed more concerned about the fact that she was hiding money from him. Michael has denied any involvement in Bonnie's disappearance. He stated that on the night of Bonnie's disappearance, she had left voluntarily around 11 pm. He claimed that he had his mother come over later to watch Aaron while he went searching for Bonnie. He came back just forty-five minutes later and did not report her missing.
Authorities soon located Bonnie's car abandoned at Jacksonville Airport; the airport was in close proximity to the hotel where Bonnie's purse had been found. They noticed that the driver's seat was pushed farther back than what would have been comfortable for Bonnie; the seating placement instead fit someone of Michael's size. After examining the car, authorities found a shoe print on the driver's side floor. It was determined that the print belonged to the last person who had driven Bonnie's car. The print was found to match a specific type of athletic shoe that Michael owned. Bonnie's father, however, does not believe that the print is significant.
After her disappearance, Aaron made statements to a child psychologist indicating that Michael had killed Bonnie in a domestic dispute. Aaron also indicated that Michael had force him to come along when he disposed of Bonnie's body. Bonnie's father does not believe that his grandson's testimony was accurate. Investigators, however, claim that the overall testimony should not be discredited.
Bonnie's father is convinced that Michael is innocent and that Bonnie is still alive. Michael's aunt, however, believes that Michael murdered Bonnie and that Aaron witnessed it. Authorities consider Micheal the prime suspect in Bonnie's disappearance. Authorities also believe that Michael had an accomplice in the case. However, no one has been charged.

Results: Solved. One claim made by Bonnie and Michael's son, Aaron, was verified in 1995. Aaron told psychologists that his father had thrown a shotgun out of the car shortly after killing Bonnie. He eventually revealed to his foster mother the specific bridge that Michael had thrown the gun off of. The gun was located in the water below; it was determined to have been there since the time Bonnie disappeared. The gun matched another gun found in Michael's home. In 1999, Bonnie was declared legally dead.
In 2005, a civil court judge ordered Michael to pay $26.3 million dollars to Aaron. According to him, he still recalls helping his father hide his mother's body when he was three years old. Michael's parental rights were terminated afterward, and Aaron was adopted by his foster family.
In December 2014, Aaron located the fragment of skull in the backyard of the Haim's former home; the fragment was later identified as human. In August 2015, DNA tests on the skull fragment and additional remains that were found were positively identified as belonging to Bonnie Haim. Michael Haim was arrested on August 24, 2015 and charged with Bonnie's murder. He was extradited back to Jacksonville, Florida, where he has since pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He will soon stand trial for Bonnie's murder.
